The Impact of Fulfillment of Expectations on Residents’ Community Satisfaction: A Study of A Planned Neighborhood in Tehran

Sustainability in the sense of keeping the conditions of the environment during the time has important role in quality of life of communities; thus, its role in designing residential environments is evident. Residents choosing a neighborhood to live in with their own propensity, accept its situations with all its positive and shadow points. So they prefer the environment not to change in a large extent.
This study examined the factors that affect satisfaction with housing and quality of life among residents of Ekbatan Complex/Township in order to find out how much it has been successful in maintaining its stability. The proposed model was tested with a sample of 190 residents settling in 3 phases of the complex. The results indicate that residential satisfaction in almost all indices tested was more than average (μ˃3). This infers high quality of life and place utility in its high-rise housing units. In regard to respondents ‘length of residence (70.5% more than 10 years), it may be inferred that the higher satisfaction reported is highly relevant to the success of the place in satisfying residents’ anticipations during the time and also being sustainable enough not to disappoint their expectations and needs
