Investigating the Effect of Vernacular and Philosophical Stories on the Verbal and Intrapersonal Intelligences Growth in  Preschool Children

چکیده مقاله

The present study aims at the survey of the effect the vulgar and philosophical stories might have on the development of intrapersonal and verbal intelligences in preschool children. The study population included 150 boy and girl preschool age newcomers. The study population was selected based on randomized multi-step clustering method. The study takes advantage of a quasi-experimental method based on pretest, posttest and evidence groups. The data required for the current research paper were collected based on Gardner’s inventory of intelligence. The questionnaires contained 30 questions. The questionnaires’ reliability was calculated based on Cronbach’s alpha method for which a value equal to 0.78 was obtained. The questionnaires’ validity was also confirmed from the perspective of the specialists. The study findings are indicative of the philosophical and vernacular stories’ positive effect on the intrapersonal intelligence as well as on verbal intelligence in the children. Also, the intrapersonal intelligence showed a greater growth in children who had been told philosophical stories in contrast to the ones for whom only vernacular stories had been read. As for the verbal intelligence, there was no significant difference observed in children who had been told philosophical stories as compared to the ones who received vernacular stories
