Investigating and analyzing the ultrafine grained Magnesium AZ31C alloy tubes and nanostructure produced in the tubular channel angular pressing (TCAP).

     Ultrafine grained (UFG) cylindrical tubes were produced tubular channel angular pressing (TCAP) process through two passes from as-cast AZ31C magnesium alloy. The microstructure and mechanical properties of processed tubes through two passes of TCAP process at temperature of 200 °C were investigated. Microhardness of the processed tube was increased to 77 Hv after second pass from an initial value of 48 Hv which achieved the most increasing of the hardness in the second pass that is equivalent of 60 % increasing of the hardness. Yield and ultimate strengths were increased 1.14 and 1.02 times compared to as cast condition. The first pass has the most effect on the improvement of yield and ultimate strength. Microstructural investigation shows notably decrease in the grain size to around 530 nm from the primary value of ~1.2mm. Also, microscopic images show that the grain size in the second pass is smaller than the first pass.
