Simulation effect of viscosity on holdup / pressure drop in oil and gas two phase flow by Olga software

Produce fluid of different oil and gas fields often is two phase. The operating units feed is two-phase flow. The operating units feed can be only liquid, emulsion of oil and water or water and oil phases. Specific phenomena are in two-phase flow, that fluid transitions are challenged. One of these phenomena is slug flow regime; it is especially effective in fluid transmission. We study slug flow regime (hydrodynamic) in pipeline. According to industrial experience and structure of Olga software from the Schlumberger Company; we investigated the effect of viscosity on the slug flow in oil pipeline. For validation of Olga results, we were used experimental data. After validating the results, was elected a pipeline from the oil fields of West Iran that the conditions for the slug flow. Operational data were used to simulate and evaluate the effects of viscosity on slug flow regime. We used to increase the ambient temperature to change the viscosity. The simulation results indicated with increase of slug flow increasing the viscosity of oil.
