Comparative Evaluation of Higher Education in Iran, England, and Australia

چکیده مقاله

Higher education as a driving force of continuous development and movement toward a literate society has a leading role. Moreover, this organization plays a major role in the competitive advantage of the countries in regional and international level. In this regard, in the first decade of the new millennium, the universities are expected to consider these mentioned aspects, while paying attention to their social responsibilities, more than before. In order to do that, universities and institutes of higher education must pioneer the analysis of the social realities and the supply of proactive solutions. Therefore, they must revise their mission by formulating their goals, plans and activities in a way that they would be able to produce scientific knowledge and provide the necessary capacities to supply technical knowledge, and persuade human forces with appropriate capabilities to understand the complicated social realities of their surroundings. Accordingly, the goal of the present study is a comparative evaluation of internationalization in Australia and England in comparison to the higher education in Iran. Following a reference to the structure of higher education in Australia and England, and presenting the ranking of the Australian universities as an example, we discussed internationalization of higher education in Iran, its obstacles and solutions, and the benefits of internationalization
