چکیده مقاله

One of the most important challenges in metropolitan cities is public transport management; and Tehran, as the capital city of Iran is no exception. In recent years, utilizing Automated Fare Collection (AFC) system in this city has provide the managers with large amount of data about the commuters’ behavior in using transportation facilities. In this paper, information about public transportation usage in Tehran, Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) specifically, is studied with the objective of detecting current challenges and proposing managerial strategies for more efficient services. Data mining techniques (clustering) are utilized to discover patterns of using BRT in different times of a year (March 2014- March 2015) by average. Resulted clusters are analyzed and different approaches are presented per cluster.
