Economy of Rural Spaces in Development Policies of Iran; the Content of Five-year Plans after the Islamic Revolution

Villages and rural economics have a unique role in the process of spatial development. Economic prosperity is required to be integrated with the expansion of different economic activities in rural areas to access economic development and stability of these rural settlements. In this regard, upstream plans and policies play fundamental roles. After more than three decades since the Iranian Revolution and experiencing the formulation of policies and strategic plans of expansion, rural areas have not developed enough, especially in terms of space economy. In the present article, in order to predict amount of attention given to both equal and integrated development of economic activities in rural areas and importance of rural economics, we have tried to examine and analyze the content of plans of expansion after the Iranian Revolution.
