Investigating The Relationship Between Motivation and The Proficiency of Reading Skill in Foreign Persian Learners

چکیده مقاله

The proficiency of reading skills for foreign speakers in other countries is one of important necessities for educational achievement and social life in other countries, therefore, this study was formed aiming to investigate the relationship between motivation and proficiency of reading skills in foreign Persian learners. In order to this, 30 foreign Persian learners who were learning Persian language in Tehran Dehkhoda Institute/ Qazvin University of Imam Khomeini, were chosen randomly. Then a questionnaire was given to the participants, which was moderated based on reading motives questionnaire (MRQ) in order to be used in the tissue of Iran and the validity and reliability of new test had been confirmed and after that, participants took the test of reading in Persian. Finally, the analyzed statistical information indicated that there is a positive and significant relationship between motivation and its components including self-efficiency in reading, the effort for reading, avoiding reading, the curiosity for reading, attempt for reading, the importance for reading, cognition towards reading, acquiring scores in reading, competition in reading, social status of reading and acceptance with the proficiency of reading skill in foreign Persian learners.
