Urban Regeneration; Creating a Vibrant Urban Space by Emphasizing on the Cultural-Artistic Activities Redevelopment: Evidence from Southern Lalezar Street in Tehran

Nowadays in historical cities, many of urban spaces, due to changes that arising from modern urban development and lack of attention to different spatial qualities, have lost their identities and also the importance of their pasts, which is resulting from city history and culture. In this study, the purpose is restoring urban life and the identity that is associated with the historical past of Southern Lalezar street in Tehran; in this regard, by adopting the urban regeneration and vitality approaches, is tried to create a suitable human-oriented context, in relation with missing background. Based on theoretical reviews and empirical investigations, this paper tries to restore the value and meaning of the Southern Lalezar street and its public spaces, with emphasis on some suitable principles, like pedestrian-orientation, internal and  infill development, using brown fields and injection artistic and cultural activities. Finally, by extracting some principles and different methods from the urban regeneration and vitality concepts and also analyzing the case study, we have tried to revive the old but valuable urban structure by emphasis on the redevelopment of historical identities of Southern Lalezar street.
