The present study intended to investigate the effect of environmental performance index (EPI) on the economic growth of the countries of the vision 1404 region. Studies conducted in this field have mostly emphasized the effect of economic growth on environmental degradation. The current research, however, studied the effect of environmental quality improvement on economic growth, which has distinguished it from many studies in this field. To this end, the present study investigated the effect of environmental performance index (EPI) on the economic growth of the countries of the vision 1404 region during 2000-2013 using panel data. The results of the current study indicated that there was a significant positive relationship between environmental performance index (EPI) and the economic growth of the countries of vision 1404 region during the research period. This study also used various variables such as labor force, capital accumulation and economic openness in addition to environmental performance index.
