The Effect of Government Costs on the Economic Growth in Developing and OECD Countries

One of the important issues that have recently received great attention is government costs and economic growth. Thus, this research set to investigate the effect of government costs on the economic growth of two groups of countries, 35 developing countries and the countries of the organization of economic cooperation and development (23 countries) during the period of 1980 to 2012 through panel data method. The experimental results of the current research indicated that government costs had a positive significant effect on the economic growth of developing countries. This is while government costs negatively affected the economic growth of the countries of the organization of economic cooperation and development.
