Suggesting a Web Based Social-Technical System to Meet Information Requirements of Rural ecotourism Stakeholders

Residents of rural areas as one of the pillars of the information society have always faced problems and constraints in satisfying their information needs. Info-mobilization has been suggested as an ICT development methodology that can use a structured information system to reduce the digital divide between urban and rural communities. This methodology, which is based on a social-technical system, gives preference to social processes over organizational factors to link society and information technology and institutionalize ICT in rural communities of developing countries. This study uses info-mobilization methodology to provide a new approach for designing websites called Info-Mobilization Based (IMB). It uses the bottom-up approach to disseminate information to satisfy information needs of small communities. Due to the ecotourism proximity to the villages, an IMB-type website was implemented and the attitude of audience of tourism industry about the effect of info-mobilization in satisfying information needs of the rural eco-tourism stakeholders was measured using statistical methods. The results of the statistical analysis of the data indicated the efficiency of this web technology for different stakeholders of ecotourism
