Technical and Economic Evaluation of Water and Immiscible Gas Methods to Increase Oil Recovery from One of Iranian Offshore Oil Fields

EOR is a means to extend the productive life of an otherwise depleted and uneconomic oil field. In this paper one of Iranian offshore oil reservoirs was evaluated as a case study. Severe pressure drop is occurred in the field, so different flooding methods had been investigated to find optimum method in aspect of technical points of view. Immiscible gas injection and waterflooding were selected based on its rock and fluid characterizations. Then, factors impressive on an injection process had been optimized. Economic feasibility of the selected methods was studied. The outcomes from technical study had been used to determine net present value. Comparing NPVs showed that the best result is obtained by immiscible gas injection. Sensitivity analysis was also done with respect to oil price, discount rate and cost.
