A Nietzschean Reading of Goethe’s Faust and Oscar Wilde’s the Picture of Dorian Gray

The focus of this paper is to study the concepts of will to power, and Superman by Friedrich Nietzsche. It is true that Nietzsche plays a crucial role in the development of the concept of power. Having this in mind, the researcher will take Nietzsche’s theory of “will to power” as starting point for analysis of Goethe’s Faust and Oscar Wilde’s the Picture of Dorian Gray. This presents research; then, more clearly goes on to focus on similarities and differences between the corresponding representatives of good and evil in the two works. In the final part, the paper analyses the concept of Nihilism, with Nietzsche being the most associated figure in it that proves the concept that life has no fundamental value and this world is meaningless and absurd. In conclusion, the paper argues about similarities between Nietzsche’s concepts in two works mentioned previously.
