Evaluation the antidiabetic effect of Nigella sativa extract loaded onto noisome nanoparticle in animal model

Background: In addition to increasing efficiency, using nanotechnology can reduce the side effects of drugs. Regarding the high prevalence of diabetes in communities, and anti-diabetic effects of Nigella sativa, this study was conducted to evaluate anti-diabetic effects of Nigella sativa extract loaded onto noisome nanoparticles (NPs) in Streptozotocin diabetic rats.

Methods: In this study, Nigella sativa extract was obtained using solvent extraction method, then were loaded on the noisome nanoparticle. Sonication methods, dynamic light scattering and spectroscopy were used to characterize nanoparticles, then began vivo studies. The groups were created mice with diabetes, using antibiotics streptozotocin. Prescription was administered intraperitoneally, once and dose 150 mg / kg to Syrian female adult rats. The weight and blood glucose were measured on a weekly basis in different groups.

Results: The nanoparticles size containing extracts and control, were estimated 373 and 481 nm, respectively. Only 38% of the drug-loaded was released from nanoparticles after 48 hours. So, the group receiving the extract loaded onto the noisome, showed an 8% reduction in blood sugar than released extract. The dissolution, indicated high retuned Nigella sativa, showed the most similarity to healthy control group.

Conclusion: Nigella sativa has the ability to reduce blood sugar. Finally, noisome nanoparticles can be used as a suitable carrier for an oral.
