Optical design of a panchromatic camera with 50cm resolution and 3x zoom at the distance of 15km

In this paper we have tried to design the optic of one lens system which has the zoom capability. The most important requirement for this system is that, according to the considered limits and parameters this set of lenses can be define as a camera which has the ability of illustration on the detector. The reason of emphasis on this requirement is that the final image forms on the detector and the ability of visibility on the screen exist without direct use of camera by operator. As the first step, the required parameters for system design and also the effective parameters in detector selection, have been evaluated; and on this basis, a panchromatic CCD detector has been selected and its fundamental parameters have been calculated. Then, the main specifications of the system with 50cm resolution and 3x zoom have been investigated and computed at the distance of 15km. According to the calculations, the first conceptual prototype has been analyzed, and its design has been optimized via ZEMAX software in order to achieve the most appropriate quality factor.
