Performance evaluation of a production/distribution system: A graph theoretic approach

Facilitating production-planning and distribution strategies for demand responsiveness has been well recognized as an operative means of accomplishing production-distribution efficiency. To support efficient decision making in manufacturing environments, this study will focus on adopting graph-rewriting systems. It will attempt to focus on bringing forward a novel structure that helps companies using production/distribution strategies to 1: identify the conflicting nodes and the relations between them 2: propose dialectical prioritization rules and techniques by means of graph coloring concepts for solving the conflicts and 3: reorganize the system and evaluate performance. We will use graph-coloring in order to solve the potential conflicts among various nodes (such as workstations in production environments and nodes in the distribution systems) and present an upper bound for the chromatic number of such systems
