چکیده مقاله
Corrosion phenomenon is one of the largest economic and industrial problems in most countries in the world. Annually, Billions of dollars cost for corrosion damage and control. 20 percent of corrosion damages are related to microorganisms. Among these microorganisms, sulfate reducing bacteria or SRB are known the most important factor to accelerating electrochemical processes and corrosion. Today has been shown that the use of chemical inhibitors cause irreparable environmental pollution. Therefore, their use is limited in the industry and looking for safer alternatives and biocompatible. These substances are known as the green compounds. They obtained from plants and have important characteristic of low toxicity, biodegradability which are easily accessible and affordable. The results in this area have brought new hopes for researchers in order to use these compounds. The aim of this study was to investigate the antimicrobial effects of ethanol extract of the herb Mentha longifolia consortium SRB bacteria isolated from the water cooling tower unit of the refinery. A serial dilution test the antimicrobial effect 100 mg/ml of ethanol extract of the plant on 50 ml medium containing bacteria, 3/62×105 cell/ml cells was investigated. As a result, the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of the extract 6/25 mg/ml and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) of bacteria 25 mg/ml obtained respectively. According to the findings can be done complementary tests to evaluate the effect of different metals in the plant as MIC inhibitor industrial systems
