A Simple Method for Near Field Study of Output Power Distribution of Optical Fibers

In this article the output power distribution of the optical fiber is investigated experimentally by using different light sources and radial offset conditions. The source role in some possible applications in the optical fiber sensors and fiber power carriers is explained. The simple method for prediction of fiber refractive index profile ,measurement of core diameter and output beam divergence is presented .Using this method the role of illumination source in cross sectional imaging is shown. The output power distribution of step index and graded index fibers is demonstrated graphically, a brief beam-fiber study based on incoherent properties of input source is presented. Moreover multimode fiber offset launching by a single mode optical fiber is practically examined and its near field output power profile is compared with its central launching counterpart.
